Artist Statement

My style is street with a focus on realism, portraiture and proportion, which stems from my graphic design background. Each piece is influenced by my love of colour and street art. Colour enables me to expand on the detail in my art, as well as the diversity of application.

My fascination of portraiture, the shapes and angles of the face, is the foundation of my style. My work is layered, in terms of technique and thought. Themed quotes, shapes and symbols are hidden in each piece to create intrigue and complexity, encouraging viewers to look beyond the surface.

With a design background, my work evolves from on screen to canvas. The screen allows me to map out my work and build up layers prior to even touching a paint brush or spray can. This plays a fundamental role in my pieces.

Spray paint, ink, pen, posca markers and acrylic are used to achieve the fine detail and layering of different mediums. There are no limitations to the mediums used. I enjoy exploring the effects of using a variety of mediums that I come across when creating a piece, whether it be house paint, pastels, resin, oil pens, gold leaf, pencil and more.

Every piece has a purpose - to inspire deep thought and reflection.
